In another aspect, a light engine is provided for a tiled projection system having at least two projectors, comprising a color wheel having a plurality of color phosphor portions; a light source for generating a beam of light; a beam splitter for splitting the beam of light into at least two highly correlated beams to illuminate the wheel at different locations for generating at least two time-sequenced beams of identical red, green and blue light; and a digital micromirror device in each of the projectors for modulating the highly correlated beams to create a tiled image
