An image processing device pertaining to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with a calculation unit and a setting unit. The calculation unit calculates complexity indicating a degree of positional dispersion of an edge in a region from which a character region is to be extracted. The setting unit sets an edge threshold for detecting the character region in such a way that the edge threshold is lowered according to the lowness of the complexity. |
