A system and method are provided for incorporating pages in a physical environment into an electronic document and a mobile device accessory. The accessory comprises a first portion for supporting the mobile device; a second portion for supporting at least one page; a spine connected to the first portion and the second portion; and at least one sensor coupled to a connection between adjacent portions, and configured to detect movement of the adjacent portions relative to each other, generate an input after detecting a predetermined movement that enables a camera on the mobile device to view the at least one page, and send the input to the mobile device for initiating a scanning operation using the camera.
