PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a methacrylic resin for melting and molding which has improved solvent resistance and molding fluidity, and a methacrylic resin composition for melting and molding which is excellent in processing stability and stringing resistance.SOLUTION: A methacrylic resin for melting and molding contains: 80-98.5 mass% of a methacrylic acid ester monomer unit; and 1.5-20 mass% of at least one kind of other vinyl monomer unit copolymerizable with the methacrylic acid ester monomer. A weight average molecular weight (Mw) is 140,000-250,000, and 20% or more and 40% or less of a weight average molecular weight component which is 1/5 or less of a peak weight average molecular weight (Mp) obtained from an elution curve of GPC is contained in the methacrylic resin. A relationship between the weight average molecular weight (Mw) and a number average molecular weight (Mn) satisfies Expression (i): 3.0≤Mw/Mn≤5.5. |
