Error Estimates in Quantitative Functional Imaging

Systematic error is estimated as a function of location in quantitative functional imaging. The systematic error is estimated by perturbing the system matrix. The values of one or more variables of the system matrix are altered, and the reconstruction repeated. The differences in the resulting object or image data of the different reconstructions provide systematic error information as a function of location.

1. A method for estimating error in quantitative functional imaging, the method comprising:
estimating, with a functional imaging system, activity concentration as a function of locations of an injected radio-pharmaceutical in a patient; calculating, with a processor, systematic errors of the activity concentration as a function of the locations for the patient, the systematic error for at least one location different than the systematic error for another location; and outputting the systematic errors.
