PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a communication terminal with an external network simply while securing a high security level.SOLUTION: A network system comprises: a network device that is connected with an external network and able to operate as a VPN server; and a communication terminal that is able to communicate with the network device via the external network. The communication terminal includes: a connection unit for connecting with the external network; a VPN client function unit that performs processing to establish a virtual private network between the communication terminal and the network device once the communication terminal is connected with the external network by the connection unit; and a communication execution unit that performs communication with another device connected with the external network and different from the network device via the virtual private network and the network device.
