Requests received at a service platform may be processed either synchronously or asynchronously, based on, for example, a determination of the expected response time for the service request. Some embodiments may include separate hardware infrastructures and/or may support service requests designated for asynchronous processing.

receive a service request from a consumer application;select either a synchronous processing mode or an asynchronous processing mode for processing the service request, based at least on an expected response time for the service request; androute the service request for processing the service request synchronously or asynchronously, in accordance with the selected synchronous processing mode or asynchronous processing mode.
