A panel machining system (10) comprises: a machining device (12) for machining large-scale panel-shaped workpieces (17), in particular for dividing said workpieces; at least one stacking area (22) arranged downstream of the machining device (12) in the material flow for stacking machined workpieces (18); a control device (39); and an output device (21, 36) which is controlled by the control device (39) and outputs information for operating the panel dividing system (10). Among others, the control device (39) ascertains at least one parameter which characterizes a machined workpiece (18) and ascertains a target position and a target orientation for the machined workpiece (18) in the stacking area (22) depending on the ascertained parameter and at least one specifiable optimization parameter. The control device (39) controls the output device (21, 36) such that the output device outputs the ascertained target position and the target orientation, and said output procedure is carried out in a synchronized manner with the operation of the panel machining system (10).
