<p>The present invention provides a power conversion system capable of reducing the voltage applied to a power converter even when a module constituting the power converter fails. This power conversion system has: a switching module constituted of a semiconductor switching element and a rectifier element connected in inverse parallel to the semiconductor switching element; a failure detector for detecting failure of the switching module; and a power converter connected serially to multiple circuits comprising a short-circuit device for electrically short-circuiting a switching module in which a failure has been detected by the failure detector. The system is provided with: a direct-current unit voltage detection means for detecting the direct-current unit voltage of the power converter; an alternating-current unit voltage reduction means for reducing the alternating-current unit voltage of the power converter; and a control device for reducing the voltage command value of the direct-current unit voltage for the power converter when the failure detector reports a failure of the switching module, reducing the direct-current voltage to a lower level than during healthy operation, and outputting an operation signal to the alternating-current unit voltage reduction means.</p> |
