PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem with a deviation of a polarization axis in a polarizing light irradiation device employing a rod-like light source.SOLUTION: A rod-like light source 1 constitutes an elongated light emission part 10 has its back covered by a first mirror 2 extending in a length direction of the light source 1, and second mirrors 6 is provided respectively on both ends in the length direction of the first mirror 2. A polarizing element unit composed of a wire grid polarizing element 31 is arranged forward the light source 1, causes light from the light source 1 to be polarized, and irradiates a work W with polarizing light. Each second mirror 6 folds light L4 having an advance direction component in a length direction of the light emission part 10, causes the light L4 to arrive at a light reception area of the polarizing light element unit 3, and suppresses a deviation of a polarization axis on both ends in a length of an irradiation area R. |
