PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with improved visibility.SOLUTION: An image display device includes (1) a white light source 2 having a continuous emission spectrum, (2) an image display cell 4, (3) a polarizer 5 located further on a viewer side than the image display cell 4, and (4) at least two alignment films located further on the viewer side than the polarizer 5. Of the at least two alignment films, one is a film (high retardation alignment film) having a retardation of 3000 nm to 150000 nm, inclusive, and is located further on the viewer side than at least one of the rest of the alignment films. |
