1. A self-exciting surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) structure comprising:
a plurality of nanofingers, a nanofinger of the plurality including a nanolaser that comprises an optical gain material to provide stimulated photon emission and an optical cavity to provide optical feedback, the nanolaser being an integral optical excitation source to provide a optical excitation signal through light amplification by the stimulated emission of radiation within the optical cavity; and a nanoparticle disposed adjacent to the nanofingers and comprising a SERS-enhancing material, the optical excitation signal to illuminate the nanoparticle, wherein the self-exciting SERS substrate is to produce a Raman scattering signal from an analyte in a vicinity of the illuminated nanoparticle. |
