[Problem] To provide a means for realizing improvements in cycle characteristics and for suppressing electrode deterioration resulting from nonuniform voltage across an electrode plane in a high-capacity, large-area non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that includes a lithium nickel compound oxide as a cathode active material. [Solution] A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery cathode for use in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, the rated capacity of which is greater than or equal to 3 Ah, and for which the ratio of battery area (the projected area of the battery including the battery casing) to rated capacity is greater than or equal to 5cm2/Ah, the cathode having a cathode collector and a cathode-active-material layer formed on the surface of the cathode collector, the cathode-active-material layer including a cathode active material that includes a lithium nickel compound oxide and a spinel lithium manganese compound oxide. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery cathode satisfies numerical expressions 1 and 2, in which D50(A) is defined as the average secondary particle diameter (D50) [in μm] of the lithium nickel compound oxide, A is defined as the content ratio [in mass percent] of the lithium nickel compound oxide in the cathode active material layer, D50(B) is defined as the secondary particle diameter (D50) [in μm] of the spinel lithium manganese compound oxide, and B is defined as the content ratio [in mass percent] of the spinel lithium manganese compound oxide in the cathode active material layer.
