The invention relates to a method and a sensor for detecting changes in molecular interactions in general, and for detecting an analyte in a sample in particular, on the basis of a detection of a change of electrical conductivity. A specific first bonding between a sensor molecule and a bonding unit on the sensor is modified due to the presence of the analyte, which measurably modifies the surface charge on the sensor. The modification of the electrical conductivity on the sensor can be detected and correlated with changes in molecular interactions.
