A method of determining a physiological parameter of a subject, the method comprising: receiving, using processing equipment, two or more light signals attenuated by a subject, wherein each respective light signal corresponds to a different wavelength of light; determining, using processing equipment, a metric based at least in part on at least one of the two or more received light signals; selecting, using processing equipment, at least one of the two or more light signals based on the metric; and determining, using the processing equipment, a physiological parameter of the subject based on the at least one selected light signal.
