Disclosed is a method for preparing a basic zinc chloride. The present invention relates to a basic zinc chloride, and in particular relates to a method for preparing the basic zinc chloride as a feed additive. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a relatively low-cost, safe and environmentally friendly method for preparing the basic zinc chloride, characterised in that the basic zinc chloride is prepared by the reaction of zinc chloride and calcium hydroxide. The present invention successfully prepares the basic zinc chloride by using the reaction of zinc chloride and calcium hydroxide for the first time; the preparation method is simple and has a short process flow and low reaction costs, and the wastewater produced during the reaction is easy to handle, safe and environmentally friendly. Contents of zinc and chlorine as well as arsenic, lead and cadmium in the finished product of basic zinc chloride prepared by the preparation method of the present invention fully meet the national standards of feed-grade basic zinc chloride, and thus can be directly used as feed additive.
