摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a catalyst for a cathode of a solid polymer fuel cell, which has high activity and excellent durability.SOLUTION: A production method of a catalyst has: a step to prepare a solution including a transition metal ion, in which the transition metal is at least one selected from a group consisting of tin, indium, tantalum, cerium, tungsten, and molybdenum; a step to prepare a slurry liquid by adding carbon particles carrying noble metal particles to the solution, in which the noble metal is platinum or platinum alloy, a step to form catalyst particles by conducting electrolysis in the slurry liquid and electrodepositing the transition metal on the noble metal particles, in which the electrolysis is conducted at a potential depositing the transition metal on the noble metal particles, but substantially not depositing it on the carbon particles; and a step to recover the catalyst particles.
