PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor that prevents passengers who do not utilize the conveyor from being incorrectly detected and improves safety when passengers board the passenger conveyor.SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor comprises: a movement portion provided with a plurality of steps connected in an endless shape, which move between an entrance area and an exit area; rails provided on both sides of the steps; handrails moving on the rails in synchronization with the steps: and a control device for the passenger conveyor that controls an operation of the passenger conveyor. In the vicinity of the handrail at a terminal portion of a platform area of the passenger conveyor is provided a passenger detection sensor, and acceleration of the passenger conveyor is changed depending on a position where a passenger is detected by the passenger detection sensor so as to accelerate the passenger conveyor to predetermined operation speed. Further at a skirt portion of the platform is provided another passenger detection sensor in order to prevent the passenger detection sensor from failing to detect the passenger. |
