PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an escalator safety apparatus which can be installed to an existing escalator easily without restricting escalator operation, and an installation method of the escalator safety apparatus.SOLUTION: An escalator safety apparatus includes a multi-function unit 15 which is installed from the outside of an escalator 20 to a handrail 9. The multi-function unit 15 includes a human sensor 21 which sets a sensing range 31 along the handrail 9 at the outside of the escalator 20 by emitting a sensing wave upward, and senses a user 13 when the user 13 protruding from the upper side of the handrail 9 to the outside of the escalator 20 enters the sensing range 31, a notification device 22 which generates a notifying sound for securing safety of the user 13 when the human sensor 21 senses the user 13, and a housing 27 which supports the human sensor 21 and the notification device 22 integrally. |
