1. A hot water system comprising:
a tank configured to receive hot water, to store the hot water and to deliver a hot water flow upon demand; a heat recovery system in fluid communication with the tank and a source of cold water, the heat recovery system configured to receive cold water from the source and heat the cold water to provide the hot water to the tank, the heat recovery system further configured to heat a portion of the hot water; and a controller configured to use the heat recovery system to transfer additional heat to the portion of the hot water for maintaining the hot water in the tank at a temperature within a predetermined range of temperatures.
