The invention relates to a drive train of a vehicle and to a method for controlling same, comprising a dual clutch gear having two part-gears, the gear input shafts of which can each be coupled to a drive unit by means of a friction clutch actuated by a clutch actuator. The invention also relates to an electric machine optionally integrated in the drive train, wherein a torque provided by the drive unit is transmitted alternately via one of the part-gears actuated by closing the relevant friction clutch and a change of torque from one to the other part-gear is effected by an overlapping operation of the friction clutches. In order to maintain driving comfort when the clutch actuators are inevitably briefly inactivated for the purposes of monitoring and maintenance, a first clutch actuator is inactivated in accordance with control specifications for a specified time interval and an operation of the dual clutch gear by means of the second clutch actuator is maintained by activating a replacement strategy dependent on a current operating situation.
