The invention relates to a boring tool, particularly a reamer, which comprises a clamping shaft (7) and a boring element (9). Between the end face (11) of the boring element and said clamping shaft (7), at least one main blade (13) extends along a boring element longitudinal axis (L) and comprises a blade projection (15) with a rake face (17) facing a groove-shaped chip space (19), and a free surface (21) on the outer circumferential side, these converging at a cutting edge (23) which runs along the boring element longitudinal axis (L) and which removes material on an inner wall (1) of a pre-bored workpiece core bore hole (3) as a result of said boring tool being rotated. According to the invention, the main blade (13) extending along the boring element longitudinal axis (L) passes, at the boring element end face (11), into a groove blade (25) that is aligned transversely to the boring element longitudinal axis (L). This groove blade (25) allows the boring tool to be displaced, prior to removing the material by rotation, into the core bore hole (3) in an axial lifting motion (h) such that a groove (27) is formed which extends along the core bore hole longitudinal axis (L), the main blade (13) of said boring tool engaging in this groove. |
