The lower housing (40) defines a locking structure (52a-d), a cable channel portion (46) and a retention channel (92a-b) adjacent the cable channel portion. The upper housing (40) defines a complementary structure (84a-d) for interlocking the housings, and a retention projection (82a-d) for registering with the retention channel (92a-b). A cable connector assembly includes a terminated fiber optic cable received in the connector body (100), with the ferrule retained between the housings (40,70) and the strength members pinched between the retention projection (82a-d) and the retention channel (92a-b).
