In the present invention, there is disclosed a record carrier of a read-only type comprising information in a track, the information being subdivided in information units (32,34,36) that are constituted by a predetermined number of addressable blocks wherein the information unit is the minimal unit for error correction according to a format for writable record carriers. The record carrier of a read-only type according to the present invention is provided with linking areas (33,35) extending between the information units (32,34,36) wherein said linking areas (33,35) comprise a run-out field (41) being directly followed up with a run-in field (43). The invention further discloses a method of manufacturing the above-described record carrier of a read-only type and a device for reading thereof, which device is provided with signal 77processing means (28) for retrieving the information and discarding the linking areas (33,35) comprising each a run-out field (41) being directly followed up with a run-in field (43). The device is adapted for discarding the run-in and run-out fields at the time the record carrier of the read-only type is reading. |
