The method involves forming a ceramic precursor (22) from a ceramic based powder in a binding agent. The ceramic precursor is compressed using a top die (23) and a bottom die (25) to form a green body of a future bearing with top and bottom surfaces, where the top and bottom surfaces includes first and second functional elements. Thickness of material is left between the first and second functional elements. The green body is sintered to form a ceramic body. A through-hole in the body is formed to connect the first and second functional elements.
