PURPOSE: An air conditioner for a vehicle is provided to set the existence of the operation of automatic control functions according to user preference as the automatic control functions are activated or deactivated as occasion demands. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner for a vehicle includes an automatic control active/inactive mode setting unit (10), a target object selection unit (20), an activation and deactivation changing unit (40), and a control unit (50). The automatic control active/inactive mode setting unit sets a mode activating or deactivating automatic control functions. The target object selection unit selects a specific automatic control function desired to change a mode of the activation and deactivation among a plurality of the automatic control functions. The activation and deactivation changing unit selects one of the activation or deactivation mode of the selected specific automatic control function. The target object selection unit selects a specific automatic control function while activation and deactivation mode changing signals (S1) are input. If a mode of the selected automatic control function is selected by the activation and deactivation changing unit, the control unit activates or deactivates the corresponding automatic control function.
