A magnetic core 20 is characterised by gaps between each leg 23 and a top section 21 and bottom section 22 of the core 20. Alternatively two of the legs may include multiple gaps. A method of assembling a gapped magnetic core comprises applying an adhesive (25, fig 5) and a spacer (24, fig 5) on distinct areas of a first section and adhering a second section to the first section such that the spacer (24, fig 5) defines the thickness of the adhesive (25, fig 5) and the gap. A bobbin (100, fige 9) comprises two coplanar channels (110 and 120, fig 9) for receiving a first winding wherein a transverse path (130, fig 9) is provided between the channels in a different plane, so that the winding may follow a bent path to reduce the size of the bobbin. An isolated concentric path may be provided for a second winding. |
