The present disclosure relates to a method and device for controlling a pattern in an electronic device. A method for setting a pattern in an electronic device may include displaying a polygon for setting a pattern; determining a number for line segments forming the polygon; detecting touch for at least one of the line segments; and determining a pattern by considering the number of the at least one line segment in which the touch is detected.
