摘要 A membrane electrode assembly 10 for a fuel cell is disclosed, comprising a membrane 18 which is arranged between a first frame 20 and a second frame 22 of a frame assembly. The membrane electrode assembly comprises an adhesive for fixing the membrane to the frame assembly, which is present on the first frame as a continuous coating. The second frame is free of an adhesive in a region in which membrane is in contact with the second frame. The first frame may be laminated to the second frame, wherein the outer dimension and thickness of one frame is different from the other frame. A gas diffusion layer 46 may be fixed to the frame by a further adhesive. The second frame may comprise openings (32, 34, 36, 38 (fig 2), 40, 42) for reactants and a coolant. The fuel cell may be assembled into a fuel cell stack and the fuel cell stack may be used in a vehicle. The invention further relates to a method for manufacturing the membrane electrode assembly.
