Disclosed are a mobile device and a control method using a cursor. The mobile device includes: a touch-sensitive screen including a display unit displaying an operation screen; a touch mapping area management unit which activates or deactivates a touch mapping area on a predetermined area of the display unit to correspond to a user control operation; and a touch coordinate mapping unit which maps the coordinate range of an area allocated as the touch mapping area and the coordinate range of the entire display unit onto each other to recognize the touch point in contact with a touch member in the touch mapping area as the mapping point in the display area to display a cursor.
