<p>The present application relates to AC power supplies and in particular to power factor correction circuits in AC-DC converters. The application provides an active power factor correction (PFC) circuit in which zero voltage switching is inherently achieved using a passive snubbing approach employing a saturable transformer. The PFC circuit comprises an inductor 20, a capacitor 32, a switch 22 and a rectifying bridge 24, 26, 28, 30, arranged in a boost topology. A snubber is connected to one side of the first switch, and comprises a first winding of a transformer having a saturable core and a second winding 50a in series with the inductor.</p> |
