PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly interpolate a missing pixel between sensor chips even when a document image includes a high-frequency component in a line sensor where the sensor chips are linearly arranged. SOLUTION: This device for reading an image includes a plurality of linearly-arranged color sensor chips (6C1-6C6), and a plurality of linearly-arranged monochrome sensor chips (5M1-5M5), wherein the positions of boundaries of the color sensor chips adjacent to one another are arranged in an imageable manner, and luminance components of image data obtained by the color sensor chips using imaging signals obtained by the monochrome sensor chips are interpolated using imaging signals obtained by the monochrome sensor chips (4).
