The present invention is to provide an apparatus and a method which divide a service area into grids and apply signal intensities, which are generated by using actual measurement information obtained from a small number of reference positions at which signal intensity information on the divided grids has been measured, with reliabilities to a position estimating step to estimate a final position. The method comprises the steps in which a position measuring engine divides the service area into at least two grids and estimates signal intensities; in which reliabilities of signal intensities estimated by using prior positions are generated for each of the grids; in which a reliability-based fingerprint map with final signal intensities for the grids is generated based on estimated signal intensity values and generated reliabilities; and in which a position of a corresponding grid is selected as a final position by using a final signal intensity of the reliability based fingerprint map. |
