Disclosed is an optical network for assigning bandwidths to a subscriber end unit considering a user′s bandwidth requirements. The bandwidth assigning method comprises the steps of: assigning bandwidths for at least one subscriber end unit; and outputting a first optical signal having information on the assigned bandwidth. Herein, the bandwidth is assigned by using pilot tones.
