A fixing device (80) includes an endless, rotary fixing member (81); a heat source to heat the fixing member (81); an opposed member (82) disposed opposite the fixing member (81) and to form a fixing nip (84) with the fixing member (81); and a biasing member (83) disposed opposite the opposed member (82), to press the fixing member (81) from a back side of the fixing member (81) against the opposed member (82) at the fixing nip (84); grip portions (G1, G2) at which the fixing member (81) and the opposed member (82) contact each other in areas through which the recording medium (S) does not pass, among the fixing nip (84) along a direction perpendicular to a conveyance direction of the recording medium (S); and a cleaning member (86, 87) to clean one of the grip portions (G1, G2) of the fixing member (81) and the opposed member (82). |
