[Class 99 (ii)] A plurality of veneer sheets 14 coated with adhesive are rolled to cylindrical form and inserted one within the other within a cylindrical mandrel 10. The joints of the sheets are arranged out of line and the split mandrel is contracted by clamps 12 till the edges of the sheets abut. A tubular, flexible, fluid-tight membrane 15 is drawn within the tube and has its ends turned over and secured to the mandrel: The ends of the tube are sealed by gaskets and by the end caps of a casing 18 in which the mandrel is supported, and hot air is admitted under pressure within the membrane through an end cap. |
