The present invention relates to a vanadium-based zinc oxide (ZnO-V2O5) varistor and to a new vanadium-based zinc oxide varistor and a manufacturing method thereof. The varistor obtains excellent non-linearity as well as stability during prolonged use by further adding an appropriate amount of bismuth oxide (Bi2O3) in the vanadium-based zinc oxide varistor (ZnO-V2O5-MnO2-Nb2O5) capable of co-firing with a silver (Ag) internal electrode.
