Managing display data to be sent from a host device (10) for display on a remote display device (2) comprises maintaining, in a first memory, two or more consecutive frames of display data to be displayed. A group of one or more pixels of display data in an analysis area 27 in the current frame is compared with a corresponding group of a previous frame to determine which groups have changed, and an indication of which groups of one or more pixels have changed is stored. The area 27 to be analysed is divided into a plurality of regions 34 of a predetermined number of pixels (29), and for each region 34 it is determined whether it includes at least one group of one or more pixels (29) that has changed. The display data for those regions 34 within which at least one group of one or more pixels (29) has changed is stored in a second memory. Only the display data for those regions 34 within which at least one group of one or more pixels has changed is transmitted to the remote display device. |
