FAST THROUGHPUT RECOVERY METHOD USING MPTCP AND MOBILE TERMINAL USING THE METHOD

The present invention relates to a fast throughput recovery method during a vertical handover of a mobile terminal transferring data using multi-path TCP (MPTCP). The fast throughput recovery method comprises the following steps: (a) if the mobile terminal is located in an area where a wireless data network and a mobile communications network coexist, performing data traffic via the wireless data network, and measuring and storing a bandwidth of the mobile communications network by transmitting a packet pair via the mobile communications network; (b) if the mobile terminal move to the mobile communications network where the wireless data network does not exist, setting an initial congestion window using the stored bandwidth of the mobile communications network; (c) performing a vertical handover to the mobile communications network and transmitting data using the initial congestion window to the mobile communications network, thereby achieving fast throughput recovery when the mobile terminal hands over vertically from the wireless data network to the mobile communications network.
