Disclosed is an apparatus for cleaning air represented by a filtering system which is harmless, eco-friendly, and improved to effectively remove many kinds of microorganisms, bacteria, ethylene gas, and fungi not filterable by a dust collecting filter. The apparatus for cleaning air comprises: a chamber having an inner space part; and a cleaning member which is arranged inside the chamber and contains a hydroxyl (OH) group; and an ultraviolet lamp emitting ultraviolet rays to the cleaning member so as to function as a photocatalyst by being arranged inside the chamber, thereby, dramatically improving the efficiency in filtration of all kinds of microorganisms, bacteria, fungi, and ethylene gas in the air. Additionally, the apparatus for cleaning air does not regurgitate pollutants if using for long periods of time, thereby maintaining good performance and being used safely.
