1. A method for transitioning between an all-cylinder operation mode and a deactivated cylinder operation mode of a plurality of cylinders in an internal combustion engine, the plurality of cylinders having a firing sequence in the all-cylinder operation mode, the method comprising:
determining whether the internal combustion engine is operated under predetermined deceleration operating conditions when in the all-cylinder operation mode; individually deactivating at least two cylinders of the plurality of cylinders in a disenabling sequence that is different from the firing sequence if the internal combustion engine is operated under predetermined deceleration operating conditions; determining whether the internal combustion engine is operated under predetermined acceleration operating conditions when in the deactivated cylinder operation mode; and individually reactivating at least two cylinders of the plurality of cylinders in a reactivating sequence which is different from the firing sequence if the internal combustion engine is operated under predetermined acceleration operating conditions. |
