A refrigerator includes: a body; a storage chamber which is formed in the body and has an open front; a door opening or closing the open front of the storage chamber; a water tank storing purified water; and a carbonated water generation module arranged on the rear surface of the door to generate carbonated water. The carbonated water generation module includes: a carbon dioxide gas cylinder storing high-pressure carbon dioxide gas; a carbonated water tank generating carbonated water by mixing the purified water and the high-pressure carbon dioxide gas; and a relief valve which is connected with the carbonated water tank and is arranged to be opened or closed according to a predetermined level of pressure to prevent the pressure in the carbonated water tank from rising. Such configuration prevents the pressure in the carbonated water tank from excessively rising and protects components from being damaged as well as preventing accidents.
