Disclosed are an HTTP-CoAP proxy apparatus and a method for managing a waiting time therein. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the HTTP-CoAP proxy apparatus comprises: an HTTP message transmission/reception unit connected to an HTTP apparatus to receive an HTTP message from the HTTP apparatus and transmit a waiting time extension request message to the HTTP apparatus; a protocol conversion unit which converts the received HTTP message to a CoAP message; and a CoAP message transmission/reception unit which transmits the CoAP message to a CoAP apparatus and retransmits the CoAP message when a response message for the CoAP message is not received from the CoAP apparatus during a set CoAP message response waiting time.
