In a digital coherent communication scheme utilizing polarization-multiplexed optical signals, it had not been possible to separate transmission light and reception light from each other with high accuracy for transmission and reception of optical signals. An optical space transmission system according to the present invention is equipped with: a first transmission/reception device which emits first reception light and second reception light which are in orthogonally polarized states with respect to each other; and a second transmission/reception device which emits third reception light in which a first reception light component, which is in the same polarized state as the first reception light, and a second reception light component, which is in the same polarized state as the second reception light, are included in a temporally alternating manner. |
