The displacement detection ultrasonic beam is transmitted to one of the plurality of detection positions, the waveform analysis unit (26) of the control unit (3) analyzes the shear wave arising by means of the displacement, and performs switching control in a manner so that the displacement detection ultrasonic beam is transmitted to another one of the plurality of detection positions. As a result, it is possible to measure shear wave speed at a greater spatial resolution and temporal resolution, and it is possible to obtain hardness information of a subject at a high precision.
