An endoscope system is provided with: an image-recording section in which three-dimensional image information relating to a subject is recorded; a lumen organ-extracting section which extracts a predetermined lumen organ from the three-dimensional image information; an imaginary endoscopic image-generating section which generates an imaginary endoscopic image which is drawn in an endoscopic manner relative to information relating to the predetermined lumen organ, the imaginary endoscopic image being an image as viewed from a predetermined viewing point; an image-capturing section which captures an image of the inside of the predetermined lumen organ; a positional information-obtaining section which obtains positional information relating to the distal end of an insertion section; a distance-comparing section which compares, with a set distance, a feature region in the extracted predetermined lumen organ and the distance from the position of the distal end of the insertion section to the feature region; a change amount-detecting section which, within the captured endoscopic image, detects the amount of change in a feature section relating to the predetermined lumen organ; and an information-recording section in which information including the position of the distal end of the insertion section and also including the imaginary endoscopic image corresponding to the position is recorded on the basis of both the result of comparison by the distance-comparing section and the result of detection by the change amount-detecting section. |
