The sensor has a sensitive conductive element (1) placed between a central conductor (10) and an external part of an insulation sheath (11). An adaptation unit is provided at each of the ends of the conductive element to discriminate propagation direction of electrical signals of partial discharges for obtaining increased insensitivity with respect to the disturbances external to monitored electrical equipment i.e. high frequency transformer (8). One end of the conductive element is electrically connected with the external part of the insulation sheath by an adapted resistor (2).
