[Class 46] A strainer for liquids comprises fabric-like bags 21 expanded over frames 22 with the mouth ends 25 of the bags folded over the frame mouths 23 and assembled, in operative relation with inlet openings 17 to a collecting chamber 11 by the mouth of each bag-and-frame being assembled between a pair of outwardly projecting flanges 18 on the collecting chamber, the bags and frames being pressed into engagement with the chamber by retaining bars 27 or the like which bear on the bottom of the bags ; these bars are detachably mounted on members 15 depending from the collecting chamber, the members 15 for example having threaded shanks 16 to receive thumb screws 30 by which the retaining bars are held in place. The retaining bars 27 are of U-section and the limbs are firmly pressed against the bottoms of the bags to grip The rough surface thereof and so prevent transverse movement while movement longitudinally with respect to the collecting chamber is prevented by the flanges 18. The bags are of knitted form made from a fibrous textile strand and wire knitted together in parallel. The bags may comprise a plurality of thicknesses of mesh material of graded size. The strainer may be used to clarify the cooling and cutting lubricant for a machine tool by insertion in the reservoir for such liquid.</p> |
