The present invention relates to a continuously operating method for the thermal hydrolysis of organic material, comprising a preheating step, a subsequent reaction step and a later depressurization step, wherein the preheating step comprises the operation of recirculating organic material to be hydrolyzed in a first recirculation circuit; the reaction step comprises the operation of recirculating organic material extracted from the first circuit in a second recirculation circuit, subjecting it to pressure and temperature; and the depressurization step comprises the sudden decompression of organic material continuously extracted from the second recirculation circuit.
