A brake device, for an electrically operated motor vehicle brake e.g. brake-by-wire, with a brake pedal sensor 6a, 6b for picking up a brake command, a control device 4a, 4b connected to the brake pedal sensor 6a, 6b and at least one brake actuator 5a-5d which is activated by the control device 4a, 4b according to the brake command. The fail safety of the brake can be substantially improved if at least two brake pedal sensors 6a, 6b are provided, each of which is associated with a control device 4a, 4b, wherein the control devices 4 are connected together via a data link 8, such as a data bus. The sensors may provide redundancy or may measure different physical quantities. A wake up device is also disclosed to allow the system to shut down when it is not in use. |
